What piece made practising click for you?

Not your favourite piece — the one that changed how you work. Mine was Schubert’s Du bist die Ruh: it’s so exposed that my usual “sing it through five times and hope” approach collapsed immediately. First piece I ever practised in four-bar phrases with actual goals. Changed everything after it.

Bach cello suite prelude. You cannot fake your way through it on vibe — every string crossing is an audit. It forced me to practise four bars at a time because the alternative was drowning. Turns out four good bars a day compounds frighteningly fast.

A Tool song, honestly. 7/8 over 4/4 stuff I physically could not play by feeling cool about it. First time I ever slowed something to half tempo with a click and counted out loud like a beginner. Felt stupid, worked completely. Now that’s just… how I learn everything?
